ABOUT OUR ROYALTY FREE IMAGES AND EXTENDED LICENSES

At Image Catalog we offer high quality Royalty-Free images at low prices. We carefully evaluate each image submitted and select those images that meet our quality standards. All the images in our database come with the standard Royalty-Free license. Royalty-Free allows you to pay for the image one time and use it as many times as you like within the restrictions of the Royalty-Free license agreement. You pay the cost for the download with Credits and there are no other license free or other royalties to be paid. Most designers will find our Royalty-Free license will meet their requirements.

We offer different sizes for our images ranging from small to large. In some cases we offer x-large and xx-large images depending on the resolution size the photographer supplies to us. The small images are at least 800 x 600 and 72 dpi and are ideal for web designers. For print designers, we offer medium images starting at 1600 x 1200 and 300 dpi and large images starting at 2560 x 1920 and 300 dpi.

Our breakdown:

For the Royalty-Free license, you may use the high-resolution images to make fine art prints, in newspaper, in magazines, books, covers for books, flyers, brochures, for educational projects, on websites, or any other promotional or advertising materials, in either printed or electronic media, as long as the item in which the image appears falls within the permitted uses of this license. This is not an exhaustive list and if you are unsure of the suitability of use for the image, email customer service with your question.

Within the Royalty-Free license, the use the images for electronic and printed materials, must not exceed 500,000 copies. Buying the Royalty-Free image does not transfer the copyright. The image is still legally owned by the photographer who is a content contributor of Image Catalog. You may not claim that the image is your own, you may not sell, license for use, or in any way distribute the image for reuse.

Web templates, e-greeting cards, powerpoint templates, wallpaper especially designed for sale, posters, calendars, mugs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, mouse pads or any other items incorporating the image intended to be sold or given for free, are considered redistribution and may not be created using the Royalty Free license. In these cases you will need to purchase one of Extended Licenses that grant you the additional rights.

By downloading the Royalty-Free image, the license granted is only for the non-watermarked version of the image. The small watermarked and non-watermarked thumbnails on the website are entirely copyrighted and they can be used only for evaluation purposes.

Permitted uses of the Royalty-Free license and when you need to purchase to an Extended license

The Image Catalog standard Royalty-Free license allows you to:

• illustrate and design websites
• illustrate books, book covers, CD covers, album covers
• illustrate newsletters, magazine articles and covers
• create advertising posters, postcards, brochures, newsletters, flyers, and any other promotional material of this type
• create posters for social or humanitarian campaigns
• create company powerpoint presentations
• create commercials, film, and video presentation
• create tradeshow signage
• create product packaging or wrappings for different products
• use within a business card design as long as it comprises a smaller portion of the card design and is is not being re-sold
• personal use to decorate you home or office
• personal use to create unique interior designs
• personal use to print a poster, postcard, etc. This is OK because the photo is not being re-sold or distributed
• other personal and non-commercial purposes

You CANNOT use the regular Royalty-Free license to:
(unless the Extended License is purchased)

• create postcards, posters, calendars, greeting cards that will be redistributed or resold
• create t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, hats, mousepads, or any other product of this type that will be resold or redistributed
• create logos, trademarks or service mark
• use it to create your own art from it that you will resell or redistributed
• create web templates, web page builders, e-cards, screensavers that you will sell or redistribute
• create coloring books that you will sell or redistribute
• use it in any other essential manner in a product that will be resold or redistributed
• create art prints that are resold or redistributed
• surpass 500 000 copies of the same image
• products where the image is a main definitive part of your distributed product. "Definitive" means it is a main, important part of why someone would want your product

What are the Extended Licenses?

Extended Licenses allows you expand the scope of permissible uses and extend the rights given with the Royalty-Free. Unless otherwise specified the restrictions imposed by the Royalty-Free license still apply.

We offer two types of Extended Licenses:

1. Extended License for Electronic Format (EXT-EF) 100 Credits



In addition to the permitted uses within the Royalty-Free License, you may make

• an unlimited number of copies without further payment
• use for resale or other distribution for electronic media such as web templates for e-greeting or similar cards, electronic templates for web or applications development, Power Point or Keynote templates, wall paper or screen savers, email or brochure templates. This is not an exhaustive list.
2. Extended License for Print Format (EXT-PF) 100 Credits



In addition to the permitted uses within the Royalty Free License, you may make

• an unlimited number of copies without further payment
• use for resale or other distribution with physical items, namely T-shirts, sweatshirts, or other apparel, toys, entertainment goods, framed or mounted artwork, mugs, posters, calendars, mouse pads, books or other similar publication, postcards, greeting cards or other cards, stationery, stickers, and paper products. This is not an exhaustive list.

Downloading High Resolution Non Watermarked Images

Users must become a registered member of Image Catalog in order to download high resolution, non-watermarked images. Different credit packages are available starting from $10 for 10 credits. The larger the credits package, the better the discount. Images can be downloaded starting as low as .83 when larger credit packages are purchased. Each time an image is downloaded, a specific credit amount is automatically deducted from your account. You can view a history of your downloads as a record of the licenses acquired.
