Isolated Images
Isolated images are the images that have a single object on a pure white background. This effect can work wonderfully and make an image look outstanding if composed properly and the background is pure white.
The problem is not everyone is familiar with creating a white background and thus ends up with a gray or blue tone to their background. Some manage to get a mostly white background with graying around the corners. This takes away from the effect of the image making the image not suitable for stock photography.
There are instances where the background is purposely not white, and can work just fine.
Please make sure if you photograph an isolated image and upload to our site, that you use a pure white background.
Notice the images below, one with a pure white background (which is correct), and one with the greying background, which is incorrect
Tip!
To help get a white background for your image, try to ever so slightly over expose the image, but no so much the image starts to look blown out. Then, in Photoshop, select a white point in the image by going through the menus “Image > Adjustments > Curves”, then select the eye dropper tool for “Set white point”.
